Why a helmet made for wakeboarding?
A wakeboard helmet is built for water: it drains quickly, the padding barely soaks up water and the materials don't rust. A bike or ski helmet isn't made for that and gets heavy once it's wet. Look for the CE EN 1385 marking, the European standard for watersports helmets, like on the Liquid Force Flash CE and Hero CE.
At the cable park a helmet is a must, especially when you ride kickers and rails. Many cable parks require one. Behind the boat, a helmet protects you on hard falls and when you're learning new tricks.
Which wakeboard helmet should you buy?
Helmet with ear protection
Ear flaps or ear pads protect your ears from impact on the water and keep you warmer in spring and autumn. A good choice if you ride a lot at the cable park or in colder water, like the Liquid Force Flash CE with earflaps.
Helmet without ear protection
Lighter, more airflow and you hear the boat driver or cable operator better. Popular on warm summer days and with riders who prefer a minimal feel.
Helmets for women and kids
Small sizes (XS and S) fit most kids and riders with a smaller head. A helmet that fits properly matters more than the model, so measure your head before you order.
What size wakeboard helmet?
Measure your head circumference with a tape measure, just above your eyebrows and ears. Compare that number with the brand's size chart on the product page. Our helmets run from XS to XL. A helmet fits well when it sits level on your head, doesn't move when you shake your head and the chin strap closes with room for about two fingers.
How much does a good wakeboard helmet cost?
Most of our wakeboard helmets cost between €60 and €90. Looking for a deal? Check our wake sale.

Frequently asked questions about buying a wakeboard helmet
Where can I buy a wakeboard helmet in Belgium?
In our wakeboard shop in Oudenaarde, or online right here. In store you can try helmets on; online we deliver across Belgium, the Netherlands and the rest of Europe.
Is a helmet mandatory at the cable park?
Many cable parks require a helmet, certainly when you ride obstacles. Even when it isn't required, we always recommend one.
Can I use a ski or bike helmet for wakeboarding?
Better not. Those helmets aren't made for water: they absorb water, get heavy and don't drain. A watersports helmet with CE EN 1385 is the safe choice.
Which size wakeboard helmet do I need?
Measure your head circumference just above your eyebrows and compare it with the size chart on the product page. Between two sizes? Then try both in store, or ask us for advice.
Can I also use a wakeboard helmet for wakesurfing or waterskiing?
Yes. A watersports helmet works for wakeboarding, wakesurfing, waterskiing and kneeboarding.
