What do you wear snowboarding? The layering system
Snowboarders dress in layers. That way you stay warm on the lift and don't overheat on your run, and you can add or remove a layer as the weather changes.
- Base layer: sits against your skin and wicks sweat away so you don't get cold. See our baselayers.
- Mid layer: a fleece or light insulated layer for extra warmth on cold days. See our midlayers.
- Outer layer: a waterproof snowboard jacket and snowboard pants that keep out snow, wind and wet.
The accessories that make the difference
Cold hands or a cold neck can ruin a good day. Complete your kit with:
- snowboard gloves and mittens that stay warm and dry
- a warm beanie for the lift and after riding
- a neckwarmer against wind and cold on your face
- proper snowboard socks, because cotton socks make your feet cold
What to look for in snowboard clothing
- Waterproof and breathable: the higher the waterproof rating (10K, 20K, 30K), the longer you stay dry in wet snow.
- Taped seams: keep water from leaking through the stitching.
- A roomier fit: snowboard clothing is cut looser than ski clothing, so you can move freely and fit layers underneath.
- Jacket and pants that work together: a powder skirt and a jacket-to-pant connection keep snow out when you fall.
How much does a complete snowboard outfit cost?
- €300 – €500: a solid jacket, pants and gloves for beginners and a week a year.
- €500 – €800: higher waterproof ratings, more features and a base or mid layer on top.
- €800 and up: 3-layer and Gore-Tex outerwear with full layering for riders who go often.

Frequently asked questions about buying snowboard clothing
Where can I buy snowboard clothing in Belgium?
In our shop in Oudenaarde, or online right here. In store you can try everything together; online we deliver across Belgium and the rest of Europe.
Can I snowboard in ski clothing?
Yes, technically ski clothing works too. Snowboard clothing is cut roomier and longer and is often reinforced where you sit and kneel in the snow, which makes it more comfortable on a board.
What do I wear under my snowboard jacket?
A base layer against your skin and, on cold days, a mid layer on top. Avoid cotton: it holds sweat and makes you cold.
When is the best time to buy snowboard clothing?
New collections arrive in autumn, when the choice of colours and sizes is biggest. If saving money matters most, look at last season's pieces in spring.
