What snowboard gear do you need?
Your snowboard gear consists of three parts that work together as one setup. Each part has its own page with filters and detailed advice:
- Snowboard: decides how your setup rides, on groomers, in the park or in powder. See all our snowboards.
- Bindings: transfer every movement of your legs to your board. See all our snowboard bindings.
- Boots: your contact point with the whole setup, and the part where comfort and fit matter most. See all our snowboard boots.
Fancy something different? A snowskate is a board without bindings: you ride it in regular shoes, like a skateboard on snow.
How to build a snowboard setup that works
A good setup is more than three separate purchases. Board, bindings and boots need to match, or even expensive gear won't feel right.
Matching flex across the setup
Combine parts with a similar flex. A soft board with soft bindings and boots feels playful and forgiving; a stiff board needs stiffer bindings and boots to steer it. Put stiff boots on a very soft board and you lose exactly that playful feel.
Boots, bindings and board in the right size
Start with your boots: your boot size sets your binding size, and together they decide how wide your board should be. If your toes or heels stick out too far over the edge, you need a wide board. Not sure about your board length or width? Work it out in one minute with our snowboard size calculator.
Does everything fit together?
Most bindings fit the common insert patterns and Burton Channel. Watch out with entry systems, though: Step On bindings only work with Step On boots, while speed entry bindings like Supermatic and FASE work with your regular boots. More on that in our Step On and speed entry bindings.

How much does snowboard gear cost?
Guide prices for a new setup of board, bindings and boots:
- €700 – €1,000: a complete entry-level setup for beginners and riders who go a few days a year.
- €1,000 – €1,400: the sweet spot for most riders, with a better board, more cushioning and more response.
- €1,400 and up: high-end gear with lightweight builds, fast bases and maximum response.
You don't have to buy everything at once. Start with good boots, since they decide your comfort, and complete your setup later. Want to save? Our sale has last season's gear at a discount.
Buy or rent snowboard gear?
Going once a year and still figuring things out? Renting is often the smartest choice. At One80 you can rent a snowboard as a complete set: board, bindings and boots. Love your rental board? You can buy it afterwards. Ride several weeks a year and your own setup pays for itself quickly, and you always ride gear you know.
Brands in our snowboard gear
We deliberately choose brands we ride ourselves: Nitro, Burton, Capita, Rome, Union, Nidecker, DC and Vans, plus Ambition for snowskates.

Frequently asked questions about snowboard gear
What counts as snowboard gear?
By snowboard gear we mean the hardgoods: your snowboard, bindings and boots, plus snowskates. Clothing, helmets and goggles are listed separately under snowboard clothing and snowboard protection.
Where can I buy snowboard gear in Belgium?
In our shop in Oudenaarde, or online right here. In store you can try and compare everything and we'll mount your setup; online we deliver across Belgium and the rest of Europe.
Can I buy a complete snowboard setup?
Absolutely. You choose board, bindings and boots separately, so each part fits you. We check that everything matches and mount the setup in store.
What should I buy first as a beginner?
Your own boots. Rental boots are often packed out and never fit like a boot chosen for your foot. You can still rent a board and bindings at first and complete your setup later.
When is the best time to buy snowboard gear?
New collections arrive in autumn, when the choice is biggest. If saving money matters most, look at last season's gear in spring.
