What size snowboard helmet?
Measure your head circumference with a tape measure, about a finger's width above your eyebrows and around the widest part of the back of your head. Compare the result with the brand's size chart on the product page. Between two sizes? Try both: a good helmet sits snugly without pressure points and doesn't move when you shake your head. Then fine-tune the fit with the dial at the back.
What makes a good snowboard helmet?
- Certification: every snow helmet we sell meets the European EN 1077 standard for ski and snowboard helmets.
- MIPS: a low-friction layer inside the helmet that helps reduce rotational forces in an angled impact.
- Ventilation: adjustable vents let you regulate warmth, from cold mornings to spring sun.
- Comfort: removable, washable liners and ear pads, often with room for headphones.
Helmet and goggles together
Your helmet and goggles should sit flush against each other with no gap on your forehead. Most helmets also have a clip at the back to hold your goggle strap. Ideally, try your helmet together with your snowboard goggles.
Kids' helmets
Kids grow fast, but a helmet that's too big doesn't protect properly. Pick their current size; many kids' helmets have a dial with a wide adjustment range, so they last a while.
How much does a good snowboard helmet cost?
- Up to €80: solid certified helmets for beginners and kids.
- €80 – €150: the sweet spot, with MIPS, a finer fit system and better ventilation.
- €150 and up: premium helmets with lightweight construction and extra features.
When should you replace your helmet?
After a hard impact, always, even if you can't see any damage: the foam inside only absorbs a blow once. Without falls, replace your helmet after about five years, because the materials age.

Frequently asked questions about buying a snowboard helmet
Where can I buy a snowboard helmet in Belgium?
In our shop in Oudenaarde, or online right here. Trying it on in store is recommended for a helmet; online we deliver across Belgium and the rest of Europe.
Are ski helmets and snowboard helmets different?
No. A ski helmet and a snowboard helmet follow the same EN 1077 standard and are interchangeable.
Is MIPS worth it?
MIPS adds extra protection against rotational forces in an angled impact. For a small price difference, we recommend it.
Can I use my bike helmet for snowboarding?
No. A bike helmet isn't tested for the cold and impacts of snowboarding, and has no protection over your ears. Choose a helmet with the EN 1077 standard.
