Which snowboard jacket suits you?
Use the filters above for brand, size and price, or start with how you ride.
Shell jackets
A shell is a waterproof outer layer without insulation. Light, breathable and ideal if you like layering: in spring you ride with a t-shirt underneath, in January with a warm midlayer. The most versatile choice if you ride often.
Insulated jackets
An insulated jacket has warm fill built in. Handy if you get cold easily, go once a year or don't want to fiddle with layers. On mild days or when you ride hard, it can get warm.
Park jackets and anoraks
Cut roomier and often a bit longer, with freedom of movement for grabs and jibs. Anoraks go on over your head and usually have a big kangaroo pocket up front. The look you see in every snowpark.
Women's and kids' jackets
Women's jackets are narrower in the shoulders and more fitted; kids' jackets are warm, tough and easy to put on. A women's model isn't a must: plenty of riders simply pick the model they like best, as long as the size is right.
Waterproof rating, breathability and layers
The product page tells you how technical a jacket is. These are the numbers that make the difference:
- Waterproof rating (10K, 15K, 20K, 30K): how waterproof the fabric is. 10K is enough for dry, cold days; from 20K you stay dry in wet snow, rain and falls in the snow too.
- Breathability: how much sweat the jacket lets out. Important if you ride actively, hike or session the park.
- 2L or 3L: in a 2-layer jacket the membrane hangs loose on the inside; in a 3-layer jacket it's bonded between fabric and lining. 3L is lighter, tougher and dries faster.
- Gore-Tex: the best-known membrane, reliably waterproof and breathable, and built to last for years.
- Taped seams: without taped seams, water gets in through the stitching, however good the fabric is.
Handy extras to look for: a powder skirt that keeps snow out, pit zips under the arms, a helmet-compatible hood, wrist gaiters and a lift pass pocket on the sleeve.
What size snowboard jacket?
Snowboard jackets fit roomier and longer than a regular winter coat, so layers fit underneath and your backside stays covered when you sit. Between two sizes? Pick the one you can move your arms freely in with a midlayer underneath. Check the sleeve length too: with your arms stretched out in front of you, your wrists should stay covered. Every brand has its own size chart on the product page.
How much does a good snowboard jacket cost?
- Up to €200: solid jackets with a 10K to 15K waterproof rating, ideal for beginners and a week a year.
- €200 – €350: the sweet spot for most riders, with a higher waterproof rating, taped seams and more features.
- €350 and up: 3-layer shells and Gore-Tex jackets for riders who go often, in any weather.

Frequently asked questions about buying a snowboard jacket
Where can I buy a snowboard jacket in Belgium?
In our shop in Oudenaarde, or online right here. In store you can try different models and sizes; online we deliver across Belgium and the rest of Europe.
What's the difference between a ski jacket and a snowboard jacket?
A snowboard jacket is cut roomier and longer, for more freedom of movement and so you stay dry when you sit in the snow. Ski jackets fit tighter and are shorter. Technically they're similar, so you can ski perfectly well in a snowboard jacket.
What waterproof rating do I need?
At least 10K for the occasional day on the slopes. If you go more often, ride in wet snow or sit in the snow a lot in the park, go for 20K or more.
Shell or insulated: which is warmer?
An insulated jacket is warmer on its own. A shell with the right midlayer underneath can be just as warm, and it's more flexible because you can add or remove layers.
When is the best time to buy a snowboard jacket?
New collections arrive in autumn, when the choice of colours and sizes is biggest. If saving money matters most, look at last season's jackets in spring.
